Hey there.

I'm Nick.

After graduating from college in 2017, I spent a few years feeling completely aimless whenever I had free time.

After work, I sometimes went to the gym, played the piano, or met up with friends, but most evenings I spent a lot of time doing things that lacked purpose, like watching YouTube and scrolling through Instagram.

Even on days when I felt motivated to do something productive with my free time, I didn't really know what to do. At the end of the day, I often felt a lot of regret and told myself I would do more tomorrow.  But you know the end of that story.  The cycle repeated itself.

After a few years of feeling this way, I decided to try an experiment.

I called it MY NEXT THING.

I created 3 simple rules:

  1. Choose something.

  2. Do it most days for a month.

  3. Repeat.

On January 1st, 2020, I chose my first THING.

Some days I did my THING for 10 minutes. Other days I did it for hours. A few days I didn't do it at all.  At the end of the month, I chose my next THING and repeated the process. That simple pattern has completely transformed my free time.

In the first 6 months of My Next Thing, I did 25 hours of yoga, read 30 books, did 8,400 push-ups, learned how to meditate, created this website, and ran 38 miles in a month.

All of those accomplishments feel great, but they aren't what I'm most proud of. Since starting My Next Thing, my biggest accomplishment is rarely going to bed feeling regret about how I spent my free time. That change has been transformational in my life.

I now believe it is possible to eliminate the feeling of aimlessness during free time. My mission is to help you repurpose your free time. I created My Next Thing to give you quick access to all of the resources and inspiration you need to discover your next hobby or passion.

Can I help you find your next THING?
